About METIS

The main aim of METIS is to bring together and strengthen the community of Greek academics in information systems and the digital economy. These academics work at universities anywhere in the world. Participation is not limited to this community: the meeting is open to all researchers in these fields.

METIS was started by Nikos Mylonopoulos and Georgios Petropoulos. METIS 2026 is the first meeting. The organisers intend METIS to be a regular meeting, and future meetings will be announced on this site.

The name

In Greek mythology, Metis is the goddess of wisdom and counsel. In the Theogony, a poem by the ancient Greek poet Hesiod, Metis is the first wife of Zeus. She is also the mother of Athena, the patron goddess of Athens. The ancient Greek word μῆτις (mētis) means wisdom, skill and cunning. METIS is also the acronym of the full title, Meeting on the Economics of Technology and Information Systems.

Provisional programme

Times are Athens local time. Each paper has 20 minutes for the presentation and 10 minutes for questions and answers.

Register to attend

Colleagues who wish to attend are asked to register. The organisers use the number of registrations to plan the room and the coffee break.

The details are stored in a Google Sheet and in a backup copy on Cloudflare, both held by the organisers. The organisers use them only to organise METIS 2026 and, if the box above is ticked, to send news about future meetings. Only the organisers can see them.

Letters for universities and funders

Participants who need a letter of invitation or a certificate of attendance can ask the organisers. The request should give the full name as it appears in the university's records, the position, and the school and university. Presenters should also give the title of their paper.

For presenters

The equipment in the room and the date for sending slides are to be confirmed. Presenters will receive these details by email.
